More specific details are in the Round 1 rules. The entry period begins at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time on May 28, 2018, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 11, 2018. Entries must be submitted through the official entry form at Entries will not be accepted by mail, telephone, fax, or any other method. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Incomplete entries, entries over the word limit, and entries not conforming to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game will be disqualified. Entries that make the Top 16 become the property of Publishing (Open Gaming, LLC). All other entries revert to ownership of their designer at the conclusion of the contest; no such item will be used without recompensing the designer. The organizers of the DesignFinder talent search are not responsible for lost entries.

The top 16 entries, as selected by a panel of judges, may proceed to further contest rounds with additional requirements. The requirements of subsequent rounds must be met by the contestants in order to maintain eligibility for any prizes.

Open Gaming Network reserves the right to publish any entry from a contestant in the Top 16, as presented in the contest, in perpetuity on the website. All other rights of any submission in Rounds 2, 3 or 4 that do not advance (or, in Round 4, win the competition) are released to the designer at the end of the contest. Publishing maintains the exclusive right for one year (until August 2019) to publish — for its standard paid rate — any entry that advances its designer to the next round. After that time, if the entry is not published, the rights revert back to the designer in full, other than the reserved rights noted above. The rights to the winning adventure pitch entry remain the property of Publishing until and unless it relinquishes them.
